So, the big and now public news around here is that we are pregnant with a due date of May 6. After last spring's miscarriage, we've been a lot more nervous through the 1st trimester (and now) but now that we are 13 weeks, feeling more confident. And, we've seen the heartbeat via ultrasound three times already!
We planned to tell Sean after his birthday last Sunday, but several times last week he pointed to my midsection and said "there is a baby in there!". When he said that again on Saturday midday, I asked him why he said it and his response: "your belly is getting bigger." This is very true -- now that my uterus has stretched out before, much tougher to "hide" it this time. I then asked him what he thought about it if he were to become a big brother, and he thought about it and then responded: "there is NOT a baby in there!".
A few hours later when we were all snuggled up in bed post-nap, he said it again so we decided to confirm it. We haven't discussed it much besides that -- deliberately did not do so on Sunday and really focusing on celebrating him. Speaking of, here are a few pictures of him tackling his red velvet birthday cupcake with vanilla frosting:
This now-4-year old is quite astute AND a big lover of frosting. Feel very lucky to have him in our lives and, fingers crossed, grow our family even more.
And, for those wondering, we weathered Hurricane Sandy just fine. Has been wonderful to get so much additional time with Sean, though I think we are all going a bit stir crazy now. 45' with some leftover light rain doesn't make it too tempting to get outside, though.
Take care all!
