Our Active Little Girl!

There's two big pieces of news about Thumper as we head into the final weeks (am 36.5 weeks now).
First, which many of you know, I was carrying breech for about a month but succeeding in getting her to flip, using/adapting (yoga-fying via handstands and bridge pose) the methods at http://www.spinningbabies.com/. As Sean will claim (since sometimes he'd do handstands with me or try to lie on top of me while I'd be on top of the ironing board), "we flipped my baby sister!" It's sweet how he feels a sense of ownership, and talks about her ("we are having a dance party!" "she is kicking you!"), gives my belly kisses and raspberries, etc. And, I love the idea that we (Sean and I, and Thumper and I) were really a team and by being proactive really made her turn. She might have anyways, but it feels nice to have done something and succeeded.
Now, for today's adventures:
We went in for our routine midwife appointment -- kicking off the home stretch, when we have appointments weekly. She's still head down (yoo-hoo!) but her heart rate was low -- even I could tell that it sounded different. After about 20 minutes hooked up to a monitor in the midwife's office where the heart rate was mostly 105-112 ("normal" baseline = 120-140), our midwife Marcia sent us over to the hospital to be admitted (= room and hospital gown, lots of forms) for another hour of monitoring. I picked up an egg white/spinach wrap and green Naked juice smoothie in route (our midwife suggested some food/juice, and pregnant Merrie's routine includes 2nd breakfast), and she was very active at the hospital -- heart rate up into 160s and 170s. After the 1st few minutes, Laura the midwife came in and said that things look good and really we had no cause to worry, but that they need an accurate baseline so I needed to stay. After the 1st hour they weren't able to get an actual baseline reading (because she was so active and inconsistent -- not used to juice!), so they kept me for another 30 minutes before establishing that her heart rate baseline is in the 120s. They then sent me home, and our next regular appointment is next Wednesday.
So briefly this morning, it seemed like we might be starting this adventure a bit sooner (there would have been several steps before anything like an emergency C-section), which was a bit nerve-wracking. Sounds like this sort of variation in heart rates is typical -- and may be that she's adjusting to sleep/rest cycles like a newborn and we just caught her in one (I had walked to the office and then the appointment, and I think walking and yoga lulls her to sleep generally). My body (I feel self-conscious typing the word "cervix") is not at all showing signs that this will start anytime soon. I've gained about 16-18 lbs, really plateaued since I hit the 3rd trimester -- which I think happened with Sean and perhaps my sisters -- and feeling really good.
So.... no baby yet -- and that's a good thing! Happy Friday all!
