head of cauliflower... and a half?

Hi everyone! For some reason, I didn't get an email from BabyCenter this week, but since all their info is also online, I just went to find it. But, given last Friday's ultrasound, we know that the Rookie is bigger than the dimensions described below-- his estimated weight as of Friday was 2 lbs, 10 ounces, meaning he's almost a pound bigger than the typical size. He's in the 85th percentile for his age, but since he keeps growing (and would now be due on October 3 if he was in the 50th percentile), the ultrasound doc says our due date will probably stay the same: October 20. And, that he'll be about 9 lbs.
!!!!!!!!!!
But, I figure if some woman's hips are up for this challenge, they probably are mine (those Zimbabwean women 14 years ago were right?). Here's hoping he's long in the legs per his father, rather than wide in the head a la the other "Dodson squash"es!
I'm still feeling good, though a bit beat (physically and emotionally) after a trip out to WA with Chris to visit with Eileen (Pat's cousin but in many ways like a sister), who has fast-moving ALS. Our thoughts go out to Eileen, Joe, Pat, Jeff and the Dombrink clan.
Thanks to Heather for hosting us on our impulsive trip-- the houseboat really feels like a home away from home. And, it was wonderful to get out of hot and sticky DC for cool and beautiful Seattle.
We lay low here this weekend, but exciting times in MA and PA (Harwood Hotty Annie O's nuptials) are coming up... the Rookie bounces in anticipation!
lots of love, merrie, chris and the rookie
