Greetings from DC! It's the week before my big work conference which means some late nights for me... but I'm using a little Rookie email as a reward before heading off to sleep. I had a fabulous and restful weekend, which makes the work overload a bit more bearable. And, of course, part of the highlights of the last week is the ice cream I've been eating, including a Kimball's sundae with hot peanut butter sauce, peanut butter gelato in Logan Airport, some mango sorbet from Ben and Jerry's today (brought to me by some wonderful coworkers), and probably a few more servings. YUM! Now, I don't think I really "crave" it-- I just think I'm letting myself eat the ice cream I can't normally justify. I have to make sure I still do plenty of walking (did walk home from work-- late-- tonight) to hopefully counteract some of that.
I figure there is calcium and protein involved, and maybe the Rookie is making me eat it? If so, that vouches for being his father's son.
The Rookie saved his biggest kick to date for Sunday, right when his greatgrandmother put her hand on my belly at a state park near Portland, ME (we went up to New England for my cousin's wedding). Really gave her a whack, or at least enough so she could make sure she felt him. It was so so great to see Gramma, and spend lots of great time with family overall, this past weekend. Mom, Kate, Bub and I spent lots of time on the dance floor during the wedding reception, and there was plenty of dance moves involving my larger than average belly. The Dodsons spent the night of the 4th at our favorite MA eating spot, Gibbett Hill, along with plenty of time in pajamas (of course).
Chris and I both notice that the Rookie is getting a lot stronger with his kicks-- he put in a little show for his father today that was quite remarkable. We are talking to him and, at times, singing to him, and hopefully making him feel loved. Every week it gets more real, and we are getting closer to realizing that on the other side of pregnancy is a REAL LIVE BABY. Of course, we don't feel very prepared for that quite yet. And, I can't imagine I've still got three more months of getting bigger ahead-- he's still got plenty of growing to do!
Speaking of the Rookie growing (he's rutabaga sized now-- more below), I should help him do so by catching some sleep. Lots of love to you all!!!!xoxoxo merrie
