We are in Westford at my mother's house-- the house I grew up in. It's a wonderful but surreal experience to be in the place I knew as a child (starting at the age of 4) with my own child, and then surrounded by family who have known me for so long. It does feel so right, though, and it's great to hear stories of other babies and other new mothers from a while ago. Sean seems to be on a growth spurt and has hankered for feedings frequently during the last few days when he is awake-- which means I've spent a lot of time satisfying his hunger. Means I didn't contribute at all to the cooking or cleaning operations...
Sean is so much more interactive now-- smiling at his parents but also with aunts, Gramma, his Graunt (short for "Great Aunt") Lynne, Grunk (Great Uncle) Chris, and his greatgrandmother. It was amazing to introduce Sean to my Gramma-- who at 93, was chock full of stories and wisdom, and did get to spend at least a cumulative hour or two with Sean on her lap. Sean also follows people moving around the room, especially his mother when he's hungry. And, he's fashionable-- he was in about four outfits today as we had some leaking issues with our diapers. Sean is on the small side of our Kushies All-in-One cloth diapers, so depending on what angle he is sitting in and how well we secured it, he has leaked a few times. I'm still glad that we've made the decision to go with cloth diapers, and we have been able to handle the daily laundering fine. We do have a stash of disposables and use those when we don't have a clean Kushie on hand. I'm happy to talk more about diapering though I admit I did not research this as much as I could have-- in the end, this system seemed to work, came recommended from our friend Mandy (who also helped us get started), and it was a good combination of not too complicated nor wasteful.
At any rate, someone's ready for bed after a busy day, so this will indeed be a short post. There are pictures from today and this week online for those who are interested, and please know that much of what we are thankful for this year involves the love and support from all of you!
