0.5123 Years Old

Sean marked his six-month birthday last Tuesday, but a rainy Sunday morning is the first chance I've gotten to post since then. Our little guy (plus work, plus time with friends, plus the distractions of baseball and the NBA) keeps us busy. So, he aged an additional 0.0123287671 (approximately) years since April 28.
We traveled up to New England last weekend just in time for them to get some warm weather (finally!) and got to spend lots of time with my family up there. Sean is a champion flyer-- though we are lucky that our flights so far have been relatively short. We are scheming on a trip out to California in August and I am hopeful that he'll do fine on the longer stretches too. I try to time it to make sure I'm breastfeeding Sean when take off and descend to help his ears and he seems happy as a clam. He did have a bit of an explosion in his pants as we approached BWI and it was a good thing our entire row was family (myself, Chris and Kate) and we had six adult hands available for the clean up operation.
During our trip up north we introduced Sean to Fenway (only his grandmother had tix to the Yankees-Sox game inside), showed off his sitting skills, and met my grandmother, aunt and uncle for lunch in Kittery (they made the longer drive down from Bristol, Maine). A few picture highlights (lots more in our April album):
From April 2009 (Five Months)
This week, my Pomona roomie Celina and her hubby Steve traveled to DC to meet Sean. They were living in Texas until recently, and have been spending time in California before moving to Hawaii (!!!!) later this month. It's been great to hang out with them and Sean has really enjoyed cuddling with his new friends. C has been discussing travel arrangements with Sean for his first, and our first, trip to Hawaii but no definite plans yet. Since Hawaii is one of only 3 states I've never been to, and obviously a very tempting one at that, we will be easy to persuade.
Sean's sleeping patterns, day and night, are still erratic. We had a few glorious days of him sleeping all the way until 4 am or so, feeding briefly, and then waking up for good around 7 am. Unfortunately, that pattern hasn't "stuck" yet and he's been up 2-3 times per night more regularly. I struggle to function at work, or just in my efforts to be a somewhat articulate human being, on the days when we wake up more often unless I try to head to bed shortly after he does. Or maybe I give myself credit for being more coherent normally and really there isn't much of a difference...?
Sean's been sleeping in with his father (proving his paternity, and his genetic tie to his father's entire family) but is now up, which means this latest post is coming to an end. Love to all of our family and friends, near and far!!!!
