We continue to be happy, healthy and Sean's parents are ecstatically in love with our little dude. I'm glad for the part-time schedule and very glad Chris is home 3 days/week-- think it really suits him, and sets up a dynamic of real co-parenting since we both get a lot of time with him. On my days off I tend to be pretty social with him-- hanging out with our friend Lauren and her daughter Elizabeth (the cutey who makes a lot of appearances in our pictures), grabbing lunch with buddies who are working, and lots of walks around town. Chris and Sean are also very mobile with the warmer weather and enjoy several storytimes at local libraries or bookstores. Many of the storytimes start at 10:30 or 11 am, which makes them tough to catch at times with Sean's nap schedule.
We are now mostly co-sleeping (snoozing with Sean between Chris and I) though we didn't start that way, and it overall works well. Sean is up 1-3 times per night but I'm mostly functional if I just give up on whatever else I theoretically should do (work, household cleaning, reading baby books, writing very belated Thank Yous) and go to bed somewhat early-- Sean's pre-bedtime bath starts at 9 and he nurses to sleep, out usually by 9:45 & then I should be asleep shortly after. I probably go to sleep when I "should" (from the vantage point of work productivity and ability to function somewhat normally the next day, but not from the vantage point of our messy apartment and certain things like blog posting) 2/3 of the time. As of right now we both feel strongly that we will not do any "sleep training" that involves letting Sean cry himself to sleep or cry, then give up and fall asleep. I'm sure not using any sleep training contributes (along with breastfeeding) to his waking up more frequently rather than sleeping through the night, but it's a tradeoff we can and are willing to make.
Other recent activites:
- Sean went to his first wedding! He followed the Dodson tradition-

- we had a great visit with my family (my Mom, Bub and Joe came down) over Memorial Day weekend and got to celebrate Kate and Robin's 31st birthday with them.
- Sean has become the informal team mascot for our ultimate frisbee team, including spending the afternoon yesterday hanging out during our tournament.
- we are looking forward to seeing Meghan for dinner tonight. She's a busy girl-- tough to catch but we've got her booked!
- a few more attempts at introducing solid (well, liquidy pureed) foods, but Sean is still not psyched about that whole thing yet.
I need to hop in the shower now that everyone is up (this blog post started while Sean exhibited signs of his parental heritage and slept in with his dad) before heading out for exciting adventures today (cooking demo/class, outlet shopping in part to score some 18 month clothes for him-- much of the 9-month stuff and some of the 12-month stuff is almost too small!) with Kate and Farber. Love to all!
