Hi everyone! Greetings from our apartment-- we are back and enjoying our first evening home as a family. Our little guy has a name and we figured we'd post about that...
Sean Bradford Dodson-Green has arrived!!!
A little bit more about the thinking here...
- Sean: I (Merrie) have always loved Irish names including this one, and was excited we could use an Irish name as a reference to Chris' Irish heritage. While our guy did not emerge with bright red hair clutching a four-leaf clover, I think he does share many characteristics with his father and therefore his extended family, including the impressive Brosnan traits. Some of you know I was also drawn to the name Miles (a way to celebrate our commitment, since we were married on the Miles River in St. Michaels, Maryland) but our initial impression is that he has an upbeat, social and outgoing personality more than the soulful type -- plus, he didn't bring a trumpet.
- Bradford: (Chris here) This was the first name we did decide we would give our son, once our sonogram technician gleefully typed "BOY PARTS" on the first picture. Bradford is a longstanding family name from Merrie's side, and most recently and memorably the name of Merrie's father (his middle name, but what he went by, albeit as "Brad"), and it's been a given for a long time that we would use it if we had the chance. We hope that our son displays the wit and sense of humor that his Granddad was known for.
- Dodson-Green: Obviously, he's the merger of the two of us.
As you can probably guess, we're healthy, happy, and tired, and looking forward to spending time with family and friends, as well as some family relaxing time. We'll post more pictures in the coming days at our Picasa page. And, Merrie plans a somewhat detailed play-by-play of the labor to capture it, to tell Sean about someday, and we'll post it here.
Lots of love to all!
