A brief, and hopefully amusing, interlude as requested by Merrie (and posted by Aunt Kate)...
Yesterday was quite an eventful day in the brief life of Sean Bradford: he further mastered his "old man face," learned how to roll his eyes (most often, it appeared, at his cooing aunts), and was introduced to "home" with his parents upon discharge from the Washington Hospital Center. And in the midst of this momentous day, a smaller subplot unfolded and ended with the tragic demise of two loaves of zucchini bread (and hopefully did not portend some unique parenting skills by his father...).
Here's how it went down: In an attempt to provide the new parents with a yummy breakfast treat upon their return home, I whipped up batter for two loaves of zucchini bread on Wednesday afternoon. Mom D (aka Gramma) and I popped them in the oven for the requisite amount of time at the requisite oven temperature. They looked beautiful when I took them out, and after a quick trip to visit Mer and Chris and bring them dinner at the hospital, Mom and I returned to my house and discovered the zucchini breads were not fully cooked... and that my oven was broken. *Sigh*
Round two for the zucchini bread: After some scheming by all parties, we decided that once Mer, Chris and Sean were discharged yesterday (Thursday) afternoon, we'd swing by my place, grab the two mostly-baked zucchini loaves, and pop them in Mer and Chris's oven. Fingers were crossed that the tasty breakfast treats could be salvaged!
But alas, it was not to be. Chris, who was responsible for bringing the zucchini loaves out to the car, got a little distracted. After driving from my place to Mer's, hanging out for two hours, then returning back to my place to grab a few more things, Mom and I discovered that the zucchini loaves were hanging out on the roof of the car. And had been there for 3 hours (and two trips back and forth to Mer's apartment). And naturally, our initial thoughts were "thank goodness it wasn't the Rookie that Chris left up on the roof!"
Not to be dissuaded, we brought the 24-hour old, well-traveled, mostly-baked zucchini loaves back to Mer and Chris's and popped them in the oven at their place... Only to forget them in the oven for 1.5 hours and wind up with burnt bricks. *Sigh* The tasty breakfast treats were not to be...

Hahaha! Chris, don't feel bad. I did that with my iPod this summer (I think - I mean, the iPod is gone and the last place I saw it was on the roof of my car). This story just proves that everyone is prioritizing the way they should: Rookie = all important, zucchini bread = whatevs!
Yeah, all of the different parts of this story sound like something that I would do.
